I like to start with an initial face to face meeting in your home, where we can explore together your needs and what fits best in your home.  We can discuss appropriate designs, for example hand-sewn pleats can dramatically impact the finished look of curtains, as can features such as pelmets and trims.  At this stage I would usually take measurements noting any distinctive features such as uneven floors or window shapes.

Selecting the appropriate quality, weight and colour of interlining and lining to go with your fabric choice, can drastically enhance the look and feel of the finished product.  Historically, the soft fleecy fabric sandwiched between the face fabric and the lining was used to improve insulation. Nowadays, even the most draught free homes can benefit from interlined curtains as they look more rounded and luxurious, hang and stack more beautifully and protect the face fabric from damaging sunlight, hence extending the life of your curtain.  I can supply these if needs be.

Following your go-ahead and once all the material has been obtained and checked for faults, we can agree a delivery date, and I will allocate time in my workshop as appropriate.

Before cutting the material, attention will be paid to making best use of the face fabric pattern and design, both from aesthetic and efficiency points of view.

All curtains and blinds are made to a high standard only using traditional methods.  Although these methods are more labour intensive and time consuming, the end result is more beautiful and long-lasting.  All linings and interlinings are not only secured at the sides by herringbone stitch at the seam, but also by using small lines of laying-in stitches anchored to the face fabric across each width of fabric.  Although time consuming, this method ensures that the face fabric, interlining and lining hang as one giving an everlasting superior look and finish.

For curtains the colour and look of a fabric can change dramatically depending on exactly how it is pleated.  Obtaining the best results can only be achieved by making use of hand-sewn pleats, for example, double or triple pleats.

Once finished we can agree a date and time for delivery / installation.  If necessary, I can organize a fitter, and I always like to check that the finished product looks as intended, so will come along to oversee the installation.
